Digression: Tea is grown in the Tropic of Cancer, where summers are hot and humid, and winters are cool and misty. Tea bushes also require 50” of rain per year, preferably grown in volcanic, porous soil, rich in mineral content. Countries where tea is grown are: China, India, parts of Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, to name a few. So this means, for the most part, tea is NOT grown in the U.S. (exceptions being in the Carolinas and Hawaii). Therefore, tea is an imported, globally sourced commodity, which must either be flown in or brought over via shipping container. Have you seen the perpetual line of shipping tankers in queue up and down the SoCal coast!?! Some days I wonder if some Jadetiger Tea® is on one of the ships, and that I might get the tea faster if I paddle boarded out and paddled the crates myself to safety in my tea workshop to blend in time for the Winter season!
